Mae Rockey was an industrious lady, opening her first restuarant with her mother during World War 2 when she was only 16. She owned and sold many restaurants in Fort Erie before finally opening up Mae's Place in Stevensville and leaving it as her legacy.
Mae's son, Daryl has run the restaurant for over 40 years with his wife Margaret. This duo has built upon what Mae created and have become successful business owners within Fort Erie. Their 3 kids are now the 3rd generation and strive to keep up the family tradition.
Mae's Place family restaurant makes a point to put community first. Sponsoring and catering local fundraisers, donating food or serving discount food to local schools and purchasing produce from local farmers when available. Small town values, honesty, giving back, and taking the time for quality are some of the practises they try to keep alive in a bustling world.
Mae's Restaurant has been awarded by local newspapers Fort Erie Post and Niagara This Week for "Best Dinner Specials"and "Best Pies".
Mae's Place Restaurant was featured on CHCH news for a segment on "Main Streets", showcasing the thriving main streets across Southern Ontario.
